Kalampattu (kalamezhuthu pattu) is a people artistic expression that has a place with the northern areas of kerala. This artistic expression, which is more than 600 years of age is performed by a gathering of five to fifteen individuals in bhadrakali and ayyappa sanctuaries. The custom is performed around the kolam - an intricate picture, for the most part of bhadrakali, drawn on the floor, utilizing five tones. The exhibition in the light of sanctuary lights keeps going as the night progressed. The vocalists are flawlessly dressed with ladies wearing their hair on the head. A progression of tunes (kalampattu) are sung to the backup of nanthuni and elathalams.
