Padayani is a formal dance mainstream in and around the locale of Pathanamthitta in Kerala, India. Acted in sanctuaries committed to Goddess Bhadrakali, the Padayani is seven days in length occasion. The entertainers wear brilliant veils and awesome headgears, called Kolams. The dance is acted in the nights at the sanctuary premises. Valiya Padayani on the seventh day denotes the stupendous finale of the occasion. A stately parade conveying themes is hung on this day. Music and drum troupes add to the appeal of the parade. Thappu, an uneven drum is the significant backup. It's anything but a round outline cut out of jack wood and covered with wild ox stow away. Chenda, Para, Kumbham, Kaimani, Thamil and Kurumkuzhal are likewise utilized on explicit events. Padayani is acted in the long stretches of Kumbham, Meenam and Medam (February, March and April), as indicated by the Malayalam schedule. The Othara Puthukulangara Devi sanctuary, Kadammanitta Devi sanctuary, Kadalimangalam Devi sanctuary, Neelamperoor Palli Bhagavathy sanctuary and Kurampala Puthenkavil Devi sanctuary are a few sanctuaries popular for Padayani exhibitions. Other than the region of Pathanamthitta this fine art is acted in a few different sanctuaries in the regions of Kottayam, Alappuzha and Kollam.
